14 climate activists arrested for blocking capital ring road: reports

SILVER SPRING, MD — Maryland State Police arrested 14 climate activists for blocking the Capital Ring Road Inner Loop in the Silver Spring area Monday afternoon, according to reports.

State troopers responded around 12:30 p.m. to the inner loop off Route 29/Colesville Road, where about 12 people were blocking all lanes of traffic, according to WTOP.

The MSP told OMCP that it had arrested 14 people on charges of disturbing the peace/obstructing passage and refusing to obey a reasonable/lawful order. All traffic lanes reopened around 1:45 p.m.
