Nairobi, Kenya, February 24 – Three police officers have been arrested on suspicion of harassing members of the public in Nairobi’s Kariobangi area.

Police say the suspects were apprehended on Wednesday evening after receiving complaints from members of the public about some people extorting money from them.

“It was reported by members of the public through Starehe Ordnance Officer Chief Inspector David Ole Shani that men were terrorizing members of the public in Kariobangi roundabout by arresting and extorting money,” the police report said.

Police said the orderly officer mobilized a team of police from Kariobangi and Huruma before making the arrest.

According to police, a victim who was from Rongai at the time had been arrested by the suspects for the offense of not wearing a face mask when they arrived at the scene.

A pair of handcuffs were found at the scene.

“The three suspects were escorted to Huruma Police Station where they were searched and a pair of handcuffs and his key were recovered, two certificates of appointment bearing the names of the two officers were drawn up while their phones were confiscated. “, added the police.

All suspects have been taken into custody pending their appearance.
