Buhari’s regime should improve soldiers’ wages and welfare, Governor Zulum says

Governor Babagana Zulum called on President Muhammadu Buhari’s regime to improve the salary and welfare of the Nigerian military in order to boost morale.

Mr. Zulum called Maiduguri on Sunday at a party to celebrate the acting general officer commanding the 7th Division, Abdulwahab Eyitayo, who was promoted to major general.

While commending military personnel for making sacrifices under difficult conditions and paying the ultimate price to secure the nation, the Governor of Borno urged the federal government to reward them accordingly.

“Today I am happy as governor of Borno because we have accomplished a lot. We are able to return people to Baga, Wulgo, Ngoshe and many communities in the state, ”Zulum explained.

The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting the military to succeed in the fight against the insurgency.

Zulum called the relative peace recorded in the developing state welcome, adding that it has facilitated the resettlement of displaced people in liberated communities.

It also announced its intention to reopen the commercially viable Maiduguri-Gamboru-Ngala and Maiduguri-Damboa road in January to accelerate the normalization of activities in the state.

“By the grace of God, we will soon be resettling people in Malumfatori, the seat of Abadam’s local government. The only way to fight the insurgency is if we continue to be resilient, ”added the governor of Borno.

In their separate remarks, Mr. Eyitayo and Major-General. Christopher Musa, theater commander for Operation Hadin Kai, reaffirmed the military’s commitment to ending the insurgency in the country.
