City of St. Charles Appoints New Chief Financial Officer

ST. CHARLES, IL — St. Charles City Council voted to approve the appointment of William Hannah as the new chief financial officer at a city council meeting earlier this month. Hannah’s appointment is effective January 31, 2022.

Hannah arrives in the City of St. Charles from the Village of North Aurora, where he served as CFO/Treasurer for more than 15 years, according to a City of St. Charles press release.

There he was responsible for planning, directing and executing all financial operations, including budgeting and long-term financial planning, auditing and financial reporting, evaluation and monitoring. debt issuance, as well as cash management and investments. He also served as village treasurer and liaison with the North Aurora Police Pension Fund.

“Bill brings a wealth of experience leading a municipal finance department,” said city administrator Heather McGuire. “He has a proven track record of successful financial management and is the ideal candidate to continue the City’s long tradition of fiscal responsibility. And the fact that he has been a resident of St. Charles for 14 years ensures a smooth transition.”

Hannah holds a master’s degree in public administration from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois, and a bachelor of arts degree from Illinois Benedictine College in Lisle. He is the past president and board member of the Illinois Government Finance Association.
