Cops donate 3 days pay to relatives of rape victim: The Tribune India

In a noble gesture, the entire Kapurthala District Police Team on Saturday donated her three-day salary amounting to Rs 1 lakh to the mother of a 21-year-old visually and physically impaired girl who allegedly raped by her uncle on March 7. .

The poor girl, who cannot see or walk, was the victim of this heinous crime when she was alone in her house in Mehmadwal village under Fattudhinga police station. Even the court had taken the incident seriously. Four days after the incident, Chief Magistrate-Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority (Kapurthala) Mahesh Kumar Sharma summoned the SHO to review the rape victim’s case and also spoke with the victim on March 11. He had assured that financial assistance would be provided to the victim’s family.

Chief Superintendent of Police Harish Dayama and SPs Jagjit Singh Saroya, Sarabjit Singh and Manjit Kaur handed over Rs 1 lakh to the rape victim’s mother in his office on Saturday.

Previously, the District Red Cross also donated groceries and clothes to the victim’s family on the initiative of former Deputy Commissioner Deepti Uppal.
