Crime Analyst

Our Crime Analyst is a member of our Investigations Unit and performs professional and technical crime analysis tasks such as collecting, categorizing, analyzing and distributing information. The Crime Analyst studies crime reports, arrest reports, information from other agencies and calls to 911 service to identify emerging patterns, patterns and trends in a timely manner. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide criminal intelligence and analysis for patrols, investigations and the department.

  • Liaison with external agencies for monthly meetings, networking and information sharing.

  • Provide investigation and case support i.e. link analysis tables, cell phone mapping, social media/open source research.

  • Preparation of statistics, data queries or maps on demand.

  • Use crime mapping technology, police reports and other raw data to develop a better understanding of criminal behaviors and trends.

  • Brief law enforcement officers on criminal behavior and trends.

  • Identify crime hotspots and advise on the allocation of police resources.
