FG Funding Investment Projects with Looted Money Recovered – Malami

… Claims that the previous government stole funds to fight terrorism

Federation Attorney General (AGF) and Justice Minister Abubakar Malami (SAN) said the federal government was wisely using looted money collected abroad to fund investment projects.

He also said: “The previous administration looted huge sums of money which were intended for the fight against terrorism.”

Malami, who said this on a Radio Kano broadcast on Monday, explained that Muhammadu Buhari’s administration has so far carried out numerous investment projects in every nook and cranny of the country with the money collected.

According to the minister, the federal government has recovered a huge amount of money from Switzerland.

He said the federal government also clawed back $ 311 million from China, saying the money received so far will help the government accomplish a lot.

Malami said: “The money collected from looted assets, especially those kept overseas, have been used judiciously and are all visible to Nigerians.

“Some of the projects that have been realized with this money include the Kano-Abuja highway, the Lagos-Ibadan highway, the second Niger bridge, which was abandoned many years ago, and other projects like the school feeding program, support for agricultural inputs, N -Power and many others.

He insisted that the fight against corruption has been successful, prompting international organizations to congratulate the country.

The minister said Buhari has shown a high level of commitment by not favoring anyone who lacks it, and members of his cabinet have been sanctioned for allegations of corruption.

He said: “The fight against corruption has also been a huge success. This administration did not even favor even members of his cabinet whenever he was found guilty. Many people have been convicted of several corruption allegations and no one intervened to help or influence the process.

“It really helped recover a lot of looted goods and that’s what we use in a lot of our capital projects.

“It also helped in the fight against insecurity because this former administration looted huge sums of money that were intended for the fight against terrorism. But we came and cleaned up their whole mess. So we did what they couldn’t do in a year.

“By the time we arrived there were over 17 local governments in the northeast that were under the control of Boko Haram terrorists, there were attacks all over the region. But we were able to recover the 17 local governments, restore peace and build houses for the internally displaced and many others.
