On Thursday, two unidentified armed persons robbed a resident of Bathinda from Mohan Bhandaria village under Jhander police station.
Gurcharan Singh, the plaintiff, alleged that two youths surrounded him as he traveled to Ajnala from Fategarh Churian. He said the accused pointed a gun at him and snatched Rs 1.11 lakh and a phone from him. They also injured him by attacking him with an axe.
Assistant Deputy Inspector Jaswant Singh, Investigator, said the victim worked for a financial company with its branch office in Fatehgarh Churian town. He said the victim suffered injuries to his arms, waist and leg and was being treated at a private hospital.
He said police teams had analyzed CCTV cameras in the area but found no clues. The incident happened in a very isolated place. He said investigations were ongoing, while a case under Section 379-B(2) of the IPC and Sections 25, 27, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act was registered. in this regard.
Meanwhile, a marble merchant was looted yesterday by three unidentified armed persons in Bakha Tara Singh village under Ajnala police station. The thieves decamped with a polythene bag containing Rs 75,000.
Suresh Kumar, a shopkeeper and resident of Ajnala, told police he had a marble shop in Bhakha Tara Singh. He said that as he stood on the road after closing his shop, three people with covered faces came towards him. They pointed a gun at him and threatened to kill him. They grabbed the polythene bag and fled to the Amritsar side, he said.
The police registered a case under section 379-B (2) of the IPC against unidentified criminals.
In another case, unidentified disbelievers in a car looted a wine shop in Vallah area. Suresh Kumar, a salesman at the store, said on Wednesday night that two unidentified people broke into the store and took Rs 12,000 from the counter. They also took away her purse, in addition to damaging the LCD screen. One case has been recorded.
