Kingston Police Services Board Releases Annual Crime Statistics – Kingston

The Kingston Police Services Board met virtually on Thursday, and part of the agenda was a look back at overall crime statistics for 2021.

Overall service calls increased slightly, with 48,893 calls in 2021 compared to 46,720 calls in 2020.

The crime category that has seen the biggest increase over the previous year is fraud, with 876 cases compared to 790 in 2020.

There was a decrease in thefts of 150, while vehicle thefts increased by 34.

Harassing phone calls and stalking saw big jumps from the previous year, with harassing phone calls jumping 85 and stalking jumping 36 from the previous year.

The category with the most offenses was property crimes, which saw 5,593 in 2021, a decrease from 2020.

667 assaults were reported in 2021, compared to 687 in 2020.
