In a noble gesture, a West Bengal traffic police officer donates his entire salary to run and maintain a boarding school for tribal children in Purulia district. Arup Mukherjee, who works with the Kolkata traffic police as a constable, said he took out a loan to start a school for children from the Sabar tribal group who are still considered untouchable. “Currently, we have 126 students in the school. The neighboring villagers are teaching them for free. They should have government jobs,” he said.
