UEFA and French authorities are refusing to reveal the full truth about the Champions League final as Liverpool continue to be scapegoated.
This is the view of financial expert, Dr. Dan Plumley, speaking exclusively to Football Insider on the events leading up to the Reds’ 1-0 defeat in Paris last month (May 28).
French police appeared to be using archaic policing methods to deal with a crowd situation that had deteriorated due to infrastructure and planning flaws at the Stade de France.
French authorities and UEFA blamed the disruption on large-scale ticket fraud, although that claim was heavily disputed.
Plumley blasted UEFA’s lack of transparency on the issue.
“It’s an absolute mess” the Sheffield Hallam University expert said Football Insiders Adam Williams.
“From the outside, looking inside, we cannot see the full picture. That’s part of the problem. To make an informed decision, you need to be able to see everything.
“However you cut it, it leaves UEFA and the French police looking really, really poor. It’s terrible from a PR point of view because it’s impossible to understand the way they manage this.
