Man arrested for attempted capital murder after shooting at Parson Stadium in Springdale

SPRINGDALE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) – A man was arrested for attempted capital murder on July 10 after a fight led to another man being shot during a concert at Parson Stadium in Springdale.

According to a Springdale Police Department press release, on July 9 at approximately 10:50 p.m., Springdale Police Department officers responded to Parson Stadium at 1423 E. Emma Avenue in reference to a shooting.

The statement said that when officers arrived they found a very large crowd of people fleeing the arena area. Officers were informed that a fight had taken place inside the stadium and that someone had been shot.

According to the statement, officers were able to locate a male victim in his early 20s with a gunshot wound to his upper torso. Officers were notified that the suspect had fled the area, but received a description of the suspect.

The statement said that after officers rendered first aid, the victim was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. While at the hospital, officers spoke with witnesses and were given the name of 21-year-old Erik Navareyes as a suspect.

At around 1 a.m. on July 10, Springdale police received a call from Mercy Hospital in Rogers saying they had a man in their facility saying he had been in a fight and had shot someone. one, according to the release.

The statement said the man from Mercy Hospital has been identified as Navareyes.

Navareyes was transported to the Springdale Police Department for questioning. After being questioned, Navareyes was charged with attempted capital murder and transported to the Washington County Jail for treatment.
