Odisha government increases starting teachers’ salaries by 50%

A statement issued by the Office of the Chief Minister (CMO) said the increase would be effective from January 1, 2022. The decision to increase salaries will benefit 33,038 new teachers, including 13,324 contractors and 19,714 regular teachers. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik made the decision after increasing the subsidy to employees of all non-government schools, colleges and madrasas helped as a result of the 7th Remuneration Committee recommendations. Junior contract teachers who received a salary of Rs 7,400 per month will now receive Rs 11,000. Similarly, the salary of regular beginning teachers has been increased to Rs 13,800 from Rs 9,200.
