Police investigate murder-suicide involving 2 officers in Trans Nzoia » Capital News

Nairobi, Kenya, January 24 – Police are investigating an incident in which two officers died in a suspected murder-suicide in Kiminini, Trans Nzoia.

According to a police report, the two police officers who were a couple locked themselves in their house at the Kiungani police station before three shots were heard.

Before the incident, the policewoman would have gone to the police station of Kiungani where her husband works before going to his house within the station where the incident occurred.

“Shortly after entering the house, they locked themselves inside. At around 11:30 a.m., a shot was heard from PC Abel Andari’s house,” police added.

Police said shortly afterwards another shot followed by another at intervals was heard from that same house.

They said they broke into the house after the shootings where they found the dead bodies of the two officers.

Detectives opened investigations to piece together what might have happened.

The incident comes more than a month after a policeman shot and killed his wife and five other people in Nairobi on December 7 last year before killing himself, an incident that sparked protests.

Police said those shot included two boda boda riders.

Recent incidents involving police officers turning guns on themselves and others paint a grim picture of the mental health of security officers in the country.
