May 29; Manson Avenue near Park Avenue
At 4:16 a.m., a Powell River RCMP officer was on patrol and observed a small gray Ford Focus speeding away. The officer conducted a roadside check and determined that the vehicle was uninsured.

The officer made contact with the driver who admitted he should not be driving and was observed slurring his words. The officer detected a strong smell of alcohol coming from the vehicle.

The driver provided two roadside breath samples which both resulted in “Failed” readings. The driver was issued an immediate 90-day roadside ban under the motor vehicle law and a ticket for no insurance, no driver’s license and speeding against a road sign.

The vehicle was towed off the scene.
