TWO women have been stabbed to death in London during 48 hours of horror.

A 34-year-old man was found dead in a house in Canning Town, east of the capital, at 6.25am today.

Police and paramedics rushed to a Burrard Road property following reports of an assault.

Despite their efforts, the victim died at the scene.

A 33-year-old man, who police say is known to the victim, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.

Officers are working to identify the woman and notify her next of kin.

Met Police Detective Chief Inspector Mark Rogers said: ‘This is a tragic incident which will understandably come as a shock to the local community.

“I want to reassure them that my team of skilled detectives are already working diligently to piece together the events leading up to this murder.

“We have arrested a man who remains in custody and at this time we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.”

Detective Superintendent Jimi Tele, who is responsible for public protection in the area, urged anyone with information to come forward.

“Local officers will be in and around the area to support fellow homicide specialists as this investigation progresses,” he said.

“I encourage any residents who have concerns to approach them and talk to them or get in touch with your local neighborhood policing team.

“A young woman has lost her life in horrific circumstances and I can understand the concern this will cause among Newham residents – it is a concern our officers share and urge us all to ensure that the fight against Violence against women remains a top priority for Le Met.”

Shortly after midnight on Tuesday, 21-year-old Ania Jedrkowiak was found fatally injured in a lane off Church Gardens in South Ealing, west London.

She had suffered multiple stab wounds and died at the scene, according to cops.

Dennis Akpomedaye, 29, has been charged with murder.

LONDON HORROR

The suspect, from Newport in South Wales, remains in police custody. He was known to Ania.

He is due to appear in Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court today.

Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie, who is leading the investigation, has called on anyone with information to come forward.

“We’re always keen to hear from anyone else who hasn’t spoken to us yet but thinks they’ve seen or heard anything, no matter how small, that might help,” he said. .

“In particular, we urge anyone living or traveling in the South Ealing Road area, between 11.15pm on Monday May 16 and 1am the following day, or anyone with CCTV or a doorbell camera, or a dash cam, check it out for anything that looks out of the ordinary.”
